Five nominees have been shortlisted for the Most Valuable Player accolade ahead of the 202/21Nfkfpl Awards Gala. The nominees are:
Henry Meja (Tusker)
The striker was the top scorer for his side, scoring eleven goals to help his side win their twelfth title.
What is more impressive is that this was the teenagers first season in the league but he took like duck to water, scoring important goals on his team’s march to victory.
He won the January Player of the month accolade where he scored four and assisted once in the five games he played that month. His good form in front of goal subsequently saw him earn a move to Swedish side AIK.
Eric Kapaito (Kariobangi Sharks)
The Kariobangi Sharks striker was the top scorer in the league with 24 goals with nineteen from open play and five from penalties.
He managed to score those after playing 30 games where he managed to assist 5 goals.
That incredible return means he managed a goal contribution in almost every game and since his team scored 45 goals, his goal contribution was a staggering 64.44% of the total scored.
Elvis Rupia (AFC Leopards)
The striker has since moved to Al Bisha FC of Saudi Arabia and he was integral for his side as they finished fourth in the league.
He scored 17 goals and assisted 4 goals in the 32 games he played in the league. His goal contributions were 57.76% of the 37 his side scored throughout the campaign.
Lawrence Juma (Sofapaka)
The midfielder shone for his side throughout the campaign and it would have been interesting to see where Sofapaka would have finished without his services.
He scored 16 goals and assisted 5 in the 29 games he played. His goal’s contribution was 61.76% of the 34 goals his side scored in the season.
Eugene Asike (Tusker)
The captain lifted the premier league trophy for the first time as captain but his second overall after being part of the squad that won it in 2016.
He played 30 games in total and kept 10 clean sheets overall. He also got involved in the attacking department as he scored 2 goals for his side.
