Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has assured teams taking part in the top league that the winner will be entered in next season’s CAF Champions League tournament.
The federation’s president Nick Mwendwa said they will also enter a team into the Confederations Cup as they are confident of concluding both the league and cup competition by early July.
There has been concern on whether Kenya will beat the June 30 CAF deadline to enter teams in both the Champions League and Confederations Cup.
But Mwendwa has assured that such concerns should not arise. He said:”First of all, i want to assure all teams that we will enter teams in all CAF competitions next season. We are racing against time to ensure that both the league and the Betway Cup are concluded by early July.
“Normally, CAF gives a two week extension to federations to submit their teams to its competitions which means we have until July 14 to do so. We are not worried about missing out.”
Mwendwa further pointed out that with the World Cup qualifiers postponed both the league and the Cup competition will run uninterrupted.
