Ulinzi Stars will be a man short, at least for the next three months, as top striker Enosh Ochieng leaves for military duty. The striker, who has scored one goal so far in the BetKing Premier League (BKPL), has featured in each of the team’s five matches this season.
He grabbed the second goal as his team beat Kakamega Homeboyz 2-0 at the Afraha Stadium on Wednesday 23 December, 2020. Ulinzi Stars have not won another game since, and head coach Benjamin Nyangweso will have to find a worthy replacement to the man who finished as the league’s top scorer in 2018.
The club communicated the striker’s exit on its official Social Media handles “Enosh Ochieng will not be with the team for the foreseeable future. He will be out for official duty for the next three months.”
Used as a winger
The forward has been used as a winger for all the matches this season. In his last game before leaving for official duty, he was replaced by Michael Otieno as the Soldiers drew 0-0 with Vihiga United on Friday 8th January, 2020.
Otieno will keep his place in the team for the Wednesday 13th January league game against Bidco United. It will be his first start this season.
Meanwhile, youngster Alex Masinde will also start in the game, having replaced the injured Bonaventure Muchika in the 0-0 draw with Vihiga United.
Ulinzi Stars have six points from their opening five matches.
