City Stars come from behind to hold Posta Rangers in Kasarani

Posta Rangers and Nairobi City Stars played out to an entertaining one-all draw in a Betking Premier League match staged at the Moi International Sports Center Ksarani on Friday afternoon.

Jackson Dwang gave Posta the lead in the 45th minute after pouncing onto a poor clearance. Simba wa Nairobi got the leveler through Peter Opiyo in the 54th minute to ensure that the spoils were shared. Posta finished the match a man down after Jairus Adira was sent off for two bookings.

Nairobi City Stars had a chance to go ahead in the 2nd minute but Erick Ombija failed to beat Jairus Adira on Posta goal after he was set up by Oliver Maloba.

The battle then moved to the middle of the park with a few half chances for both teams. Maloba and Ombija looked threatening for City Stars while Jackson Dwang and Joseph Mbugi came close for Posta Rangers who were dominant in the closing minutes of the first half.

Jairus Adira saw red

Just as it looked like the two teams would head for the breather with the match goalless, Dwang popped up with the opening goal of the match deep into first-half stoppage time. City Stars defender Salim Abdallah failed to clear what looked like a feeble shot from Francis Nambute and the midfielder capitalized to give the Mail-men a deserved first-half advantage.

City Stars made an attacking change after the interval, taking off utility player Aziz Okaka for a more direct Davis Agesa. Posta took off Ezekiel Okare for Bill Oporia.

The visitors started the second half strongly as they went all out in search of a leveler. Peter Opiyo and Maloba came close in the opening few minutes but they failed to beat Jairus Adira on Posta goal.

The leveler finally came in the 54th minute through the ever-green Peter ‘Pinchez’ Opiyo. Adira failed to collect an Ombija header and Opiyo was rightly placed to slam home the equalizer. Three minutes later, Adira made amends for his earlier fault pulling a huge save to deny Opiyo a second goal.

Despite creating chances, none of the sides could bag a winner. Posta however finished the match a man down after Jairus Adira was was given his marching orders deep into stoppage time for a foul on Rodgers Okumu
