BetKing Premier League (BKPL) side Sofapaka FC has made changes to its technical bench, the club management has announced. As quoted, on the club’s official website, head coach John Baraza is set to head out to Europe for further studies.
The club was among the heavy spenders in pre season but had a cold start to the campaign, losing two of the opening three matches. Most recently, Sofapaka, the 2009 league champions fell 3-0 to AFC Leopards, having also lost 1-0 to Bandari in their opening game of the season.
In between, at their new adopted home, Wundanyi Stadium, Sofapaka beat Western Stima 3-1 and just days after the loss to AFC Leopards, the club’s president Elly Kalekwa declared that assistant coach Mike Mururi will be taking temporary charge.
Norway or Germany
According to Kalekwa, plans are underway to send the coach for further studies in Norway or Germany and an announcement on the new coach will be made soon.
“We have asked coach Baraza to step aside as we plan to take him for further studies either in Norway or Germany. For now, Mururi is in charge of the team as we prepare for our next match against Kariobangi Sharks and we will announce the new head coach anytime from tomorrow,” said Kalekwa.
After three matches in the season, Sofapaka are 10th in the league standings; they will be hoping to make it two wins in two matches at home when they welcome Kariobangi Sharks at the Wundanyi Stadium on Match Day 4.
