Champions Tusker out for second victory as they host Police

Straight from a morale boosting first win of the season, reigning champions Tusker will be hoping to build on that momentum and record their second consecutive victory when they welcome newly promoted Kenya Police in a rescheduled match being played on Wednesday afternoon at Kasarani Stadium.

Prior to the game against Police, two goals from new signings Shami Kibwana and Deogratius Ojok enabled the Brewers to grab their maiden win this season over Wazito after losing their first two matches of the 2021/2022 campaign to AFC Leopards and FC Talanta.

Having currently taken a corner and stopped the two match losing streak, head coach Robert Matano will have to quickly get his troops on the firing line wjen they take on the administrators who have made a number of high profile seasoned signings such as Clifton Miheso, John Mark Makwatta, Duncan Otieno, Musa Mohammed and Duke Abuya. Experienced players who massively changed and elevated the status of the newbies from inexperienced to experienced.

Tusker will however have to be wary when taking on another new side in Police. As matchday 2, where they lost 2-0 against Talanta, had shown them, these newbies can be a tough nut to crack open and must not be underrated. In that match, a Francis Kahiro brace drowned Tusker.

While Tusker will be seeking for momentum, Police will be seeking for consistency. In the five games played, the John Bobby Ogolla coached side have won two games and lost three, their last a 2-1 defeat against KCB.

Having completed the acquisitions of the big names, the team will be hoping to instantly catch on and produce results that will now be expected of them.

In recent history, this will also be the first time the two sides are meeting in the top tier league. Who will get the first win over the other?
