Two BetKing Premier League (BPL) referees have been selected to officiate at this year’s Olympic games set to be hosted by Japan from July 23 to August 8.
The two are Gilbert Cheruiyot and Mary Njorge and will both officiate in the Men’s and Women’s football tournament at the global games.
They are two of the more experienced matchday officials in the country having overseen FIFA and CAF international matches.
A total of 99 officials from 51 countries have been selected to officiate in the games that were initially slated for the summer of 2020 but due to the Corona Virus pandemic, that was at its most devastating last year, organizers were left with no other choice but to postpone.
The Men’s tournament will see 16 nations participate while 12 will square it out on the Women’s side.
