Gor Mahia delivered a late wonder show against APR of Rwanda at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday afternoon to progress to the CAF Champions League first round.
Having suffered a 2-1 defeat in Kigali a week ago, the Betking Premier League giants needed to win by two clear goals to progress to the next round, and experienced forward Samuel Onyango set the ball rolling with an 18th-minute goal.
Gor will have to thank Gad Mathews who put in a great show between the posts on his debut to deny APR on several occasions, including a 10th minute penalty save.
The visitors finally got the equalizer eight minutes from time through Nsanzimfura Keddy.
Things looked bad for Gor Mahia until new signing Sydney Ochieng drew the tie level in the fourth minute of stoppage time with a well taken close range header.
A minute later substitute Nicholas Kipkirui sent APR crashing with a perfect inch header after connecting with a Clifton Miheso delivery from a corner kick.
Kip’s header saw Gor win the two legged tie 4-3 on aggregate and will now face the aggregate winner of the clash between CR Belouizdad and El Nasr.
