Kakamega Homeboyz FC recorded their first home win of the season when they dispatched Bidco United 2-0 in a round 9 BetKing Premier League match played from 3pm at the Bukhungu Stadium.
On the back of a 6-match winless run, the Nicholas Muyoti led side struck twice through Ahmed Ali Bhai and Mudavadi Moses under twenty minutes to claim a lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the match.
Determined to end the woeful run, Homeboyz started the game strongly. Brian Chala was the first to fire at goal in the 4th minute but he did not trouble Bidco keeper Edwin Mukolwe much. The goal finally came in the 15th minute through veteran Ali Bhai who calmly slotted past Mukolwe.
Four minutes later, Steven Etyang had an opportunity to double the hosts’ lead but Mukolwe came off his line to deny the winger with a superb block. A minute later , Etyang turned provider setting up in-form Moses Mudavadi for Homeboyz’s second of the afternoon.
Bidco’s first real attempt came just before the half-hour mark when Jacob Onyango unleashed a ferocious shot that narrowly missed the target. Homeboyz took a 2-0 lead to the break.
Bidco showed massive improvement after the interval. Onyango and Eric Gichimu both tried their luck from range but Homeboyz keeper Geoffrey Oputi pulled massive saves.
Homeboyz continued to create chances as well but both teams failed to utilize them and in the end, the hosts registered their second win of the season while Bidco continue to wait for their second triumph.
