BANDARI HOLD SOFAPAKA AT HOME

Bandari held Sofapaka 2-2 in an entertaining FKF-PL mid-week fixture  Wundanyi Stadium.

Substitute Zakayo Ndeni’s header ten minutes from time was all-important as Bandari came from behind to salvage a point.

Bandari began the match with the more attacking side and almost took the lead through Darius Msagha. The striker beat Sifuna Ambrose off the ball hit a hardball on goal but keeper Omondi Kevin was well placed punching the ball for safety. 

Bandari came close again after ten minutes of play, Benjamin Mosha combined well with Umaru Kasumba the latter then laid his fellow Ugandan forward William Wadri through on goal, but Wadri’s attempt missed the target with keeper Omondi Kevin to beat.

Ten minutes later, the Mombasa-based side had a glorious chance to take the lead. Ambrose Sifuna lost possession to John Mwita, the lanky forward then dribbled through to sofapaka’s defenses but his final attempt got saved by Omondi. 

After some delay in play resumption after Sofapaka defender David Nshimirimana got a nasty injury, BatotoBaMungu almost took the lead. Ambrose Sifuna made a deep run down the right flank cut back pass to Alex Imbusia but the midfielder just failed to tap in from a close range with the keeper off his line.

Five minutes from normal time Sofapaka pressed for the opener, a quick move by Lawrence Juma to Titus Achesa, the defender then beats Mulumba, shot a good one but missed the target.

Despite Sofapaka’s push for a goal, its Bandari took the lead moments later.  A quick breakthrough from Wadri William to Benjamin Mosha, the midfielder then picked out John Mwita on the left flank, the striker went through past Ambrose Sifuna hit a fierce shot but Okal Roy directed the ball into his net while attempting to clear the ball for safety.

On resumption, Bandari picked from where they left in the first half, a long delivery by Mosha from the right-wing was met by Felly Mulumba but the Congolese header missed the target for a side netting.

Ten minutes on resumption Sofapaka almost drew level, a loose ball by Mulumba to Sifuan the midfielder then hit a good one but Wanyika made the saveOn the hour mark, Sofapaka restored parity through Lawrence Juma. The midfielder converted from the spot after Alex Imbusia was brought down by Mulumba. 

Three minutes later Sofapaka took the lead through Joseph Waithera. A quick counter-attack by Juma and Sifuna the latter then passes the ball to Imbusia who in turn made a teasing delivery to Joe Waithera the midfielder did no mistake tapping on past Wanyika Michael.

On the 70th minute, Bandari pushed bodies upfront, Ugandan duo of William Wadri and Umaru Kasumba linked up well the latter then set Mosha through but Omondi was quick to collect.Ten minutes from time Bandari’s search finally paid dividends. Benjamin Mosha’s delivery into Sofapaka’s penalty area was met by Zakayo Ndema, the midfielder rose high to head past Omondi Kevin.

Against the run of play, Sofapaka made a final push on goal, Lawrence Juma lifted in a beautiful cross ok goal but Alex Imbusia’s goal bound header got finger-tipped off by Wanyika as the two teams settled for a point each.
