Bandari Hold Homeboyz In Fiery Bukhungu Clash

Kakamega Homeboyz FC’s winning streak was brought to a halt by Bandari during the two team’s FKF PL round 5 clash that ended in a 1-1 draw, a 1 pm kick-off contest staged at the Bukhungu Stadium.

Having in fact taken the lead in the first half through Benjamin Mosha, Bandari would have to hold on tight through a Homeboyz equaliser coming off Brian Eshihanda and a stoppage time penalty to the hosts.

Bandari started well, sitting back and luring the hosts to come out. Mosha would latch onto an unattended corner kick for a 1-0 lead on 7 minutes, putting Homeboyz who had not dropped any points in the season in an early predicament.

Homeboyz came forward with Yema Mwana testing Michael Wanyika in goal twice but he could never get the better of his former teammate. Brian Eshihanda stood behind 35 yard free kick at the hour mark and gave Yema his first real test of the game. The former Homeboyz keeper had to parry away the shot for a corner kick.

Bandari led at the break but had already withdrawn injured Andrew Juma and replaced him with Siraj Mohammed.

Coach Bernard Mwalala began the second half with a change, Ahmed Ali Bhai coming in for Steven Wakanya and this stabilised the midfield a little bit.

Eshihanda came forward for a David Okoth corner kick and duly met it- firing past Wanyika for 1-1. With the hosts now pushing for the winner, Stephen Etyang was thrown in with ten minutes to play and won a penalty in the 90th minute. This was the chance for three points but Wanyika got in the way of George Odiwour’s penalty.

The tie would conclude at 1-1.
