Bandari FC head coach Ken Odhiambo says his side has to be more clinical after they threw away many chances before suffering a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Nairobi City Stars on Friday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
Despite being the dominant side and creating so many scoring opportunities, Bandari crumbled in the second half and went down courtesy of goals from Anthony Kimani and Bernard Odhiambo’s own goal.
In his post-match interview, the former Kenyan international chose to focus on the chances they wasted against the Betking Premier League returnees. He said things would have been different had his attackers utilized the chances that they created.
“We have to work on our mistakes. Our biggest undoing today was failing to take our chances and we have to rectify that. We cannot blame the ref or any other person, had we taken the many chances that we created especially in the first half, things would have been different,” he added.
Odhiambo further chided his side for engaging the referee shortly before City Stars killed off the game with a second goal on the counter-attack.
“We have to blame ourselves for today’s defeat. Look at that second goal, for example, we were focusing on the referee and they scored, arguing with the ref does not change anything and my players should know better,” he added.
Next for the Dockers is a home match against KCB and he says his side has to prepare better for the match against the league leaders.
“We have a good team, we will go back to the drawing board and plan again. Our next game is against KCB and I know we will be ready for that match,” he concluded.
Bandari sit 5th the Betking Premier League log with four points.
