Sofapaka claimed a point at the Mumias sports Complex on Saturday 30th in a round 9 BetKing Premier league match against Vihiga United, a contest staged from 3 pm.
Kepha Aswani and Patrick Okullo, each struck once in the tie.
Batoto Ba Mungu wasted no time grabbing the lead when Kepha Aswani latched onto an Elli Asieche cross to lay it home for a 1-0 lead in the 4th minute.
The hosts, however, kept their cool, piling pressure on Sofa who in the 22nd minute, had left-back Nixon Omondi booked. In the 39th minute, Vihiga did pull level when Patrick Okullo scored.
Sodapaka kipper Elli Asieche’s recent groin injury would rule him out of the remaining minutes of the first half when in the 43rd minute, had to be withdrawn in favour of Paul Kiongera.
Tied at 1-1 at the break, it was the visitors who came out more enterprising in the second half and Nixon could have reclaimed the lead in the 53rd minute but saw his header bounce off the woodwork and out for a United goal kick.
Nothing more could separate the two teams in the second half as each claimed a point in the match, Sofa- perhaps the more contented with it.
