Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has termed his team’s 1-1 draw with Nzoia Sugar on matchday 5 as the worst performance he has seen from the Thika based side so far this season.
Bidco are yet to claim a win in their debut campaign in the topflight and have drawn four of their five matches. Two of those games, against Kariobangi Sharks and Nzoia, saw the team surrender leads for a share of the spoils.
The draw against 10-men Nzoia in particular at the Utalii grounds on Wednesday 23 December, irked Akhulia, popularly known as Viera from his playing days, as he felt the Millers were there for the taking.
He said, “The Nzoia game was the worst I have seen my team play this season. We were complacent in the way we attacked and in the way we defended. Yes, we got a point but it feels like a loss to me.”
Nzoia, who are also winless this season, earned the point thanks to Philip Muchuma’s goal, a quickfire response, that came just two minutes after Bidco had taken the lead through Eric Gichimu.
“If you look at the goal we conceded, it highlights my point exactly. We were in control of the game and rightly took the lead. A lead that we should have kept. We have dropped points before, even lost to AFC Leopards in the final stages of the game but in that game we had more drive. You could see that the boys fought to get something out of the game, but sadly it wasn’t the case against Nzoia,” he added.
Bidco will resume their season after the festive break this Sunday when they travel away to Mumias to face off against a familiar foe in Vihiga United, a team they battled against countless times in the second tier and one that they sealed promotion together with.
