Bogey Western Stima sinks AFC Leopards at the death

Western Stima scored two stoppage-time goals to condemn AFC Leopards to its first defeat in Betking Premier League in a match played at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Friday afternoon.

Ingwe dominated the game especially in the first half and created numerous chances which they failed to utilize. Their wastefulness proved costly in the end as Junior Mukisa and Villa Oromchan scored two goals in stoppage time to help the Kisumu based side pick its first win of the season.

AFC Leopards started the match strongly in search of an early opener.
Austin Odhiambo would have scored one of the best goals of the BPL in the seventh minute but his effort came off the crossbar. The midfielder had dribbled past the entire Western Stima backline before unleashing a shot that came off the upright.

Elvis Rupia was next, after going round Western Stima keeper Samuel Odhiambo, but he failed to hit the target. Collins Sichenje tried his luck from range but he equally failed to find the back of the net.

Stima’s first attempt on goal came in the 17th minute when Oromchan Villa connected to a Laban Otieno delivery, Benjamin Ochan on Leopards’ goal easily dealt with the danger.

Despite being dominant and creating numerous chances, Leopards failed to break down Stima in the fist Stanza.


Stima were forced to make an early change after the interval when Austine Wahongo picked an injury, Brian Steve replaced the young midfielder.

Leopards continued to create chances looking for a breakthrough. Odhiambo on Stima goal denied Rupia a clear chance in the 55th minute blocking his goal-bound shot with his feet.

Ingwe continued to dominate but didn’t create much in the second half and just as it looked like the match would end even, Stima stole it at the death. Mukisa opened the scoring in the 92nd minute with a well-curled free-kick and a minute later Oromchan sealed the win with a lovelly volley.

The win lifts Stima to 9th in the league with four points while Leopards drop to second with nine points.
