Zoo holds Posta rANGERS in Nakuru

Zoo FC and Posta Rangers settled for a point each after battling it out to 1-1 draw in a rescheduled Betking Premier League match played on Wednesday afternoon at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Zoo went ahead five minutes before the break through Collins Neto who flicked home a Brian Kiplangat delivery. Dennis Oalo then drew Posta level in the 67th minute to ensure that the spoils were shared.

Posta, in search of a first win in seven started the match strongly looking to get a breakthrough early in the game. Dennis Oaolo was particularly a handful for Zoo defenders but they managed to contain the former Gor Mahia hit-man in the opening stages of the game.

Their defensive approach proved to be counter-productive when they conceded a penalty in the 17th minute.Pascal Ogweno handled the ball in the area and the referee did not hesitate to point to the spot. Posta skipper Joseph Mbugi stepped forward to take but his effort came off the upright before Ogweno cleared the danger.

Oaolo continued to torment Zoo defenders with Ogweno in particular on the receiving end. In the 27th minute, he had a good chance after leaving the center-back for the dead but he shot directly at Zoo keeper Vincent Misikhu. At the other end, Zoo barely threatened with their numerous crosses on the break amounting to nothing.

Zoo’s best chance in the first half fell to Mathew Odongo but lack of composure saw him shoot wildly wide from a prime position.

Posta’s many misses came to haunt them in the 40th minute when Collins Neto gave the Kericho based side the lead. The experienced forward capitalized on a defensive lapse to give Zoo the lead heading into the break.

A minute into the second half, Zoo had a great chance to double their tally. Neto found himself in a prime position but the widely traveled attacker hit the side-net much to his own disappointment.

Posta boss Sammy Omolo made three changes ten minutes into the second half, he took off Timothy Wanyanga, Jackson Dwang, and Francis Nambute for Elvis Osok, Elijah Mwanzia, and Clinton Kisiavuki as he looked to add more punch into his attack.

Posta finally got the much-needed leveler in the 67th minute through Oalo. Zoo keeper Misikhu came off his goal area in an attempt to clear the danger but the diminutive attacker beat him to the ball and buried it into an empty net.

None of the sides could get the winner and in the end, shared the spoils at Afraha.

Zoo get a second point in their second match of the season after holding Bandari to a one-all draw. Posta on the other hand are still winless in seven games.
