Talanta dealt a blow to Tusker’s title aspirations with a convincing 3-1 victory at Kenyatta Stadium on Sunday, April 14, 2024. Despite Tusker’s early attempts, Talanta’s goalkeeper Kevin Otieno thwarted their efforts, denying James Kibande and John Njuguna. However, Tusker took the lead through Erick Kapaito’s successful penalty conversion in the 37th minute. Talanta fought back, equalizing just before halftime through December Kisaka’s goal, before Kevin Machika put them ahead in the second half. Mike Jairo sealed the win with Talanta’s third goal. The defeat leaves Tusker in fourth place, denting their hopes of catching up with league leaders Gor Mahia.

At the same venue, the 13-time Kenyan champions secured a crucial victory against the Mailmen, moving up to eighth place on the log with 38 points. Kennedy Odhiambo’s 40th-minute goal proved decisive in a tightly contested match, with coach Trucha praising his team’s character despite a narrow win.

Attention now turns to the upcoming Mashemeji derby against Gor Mahia, with Trucha acknowledging the challenge ahead. Posta Rangers’ stand-in coach Bernard Kawinzi lamented missed opportunities, believing they could have won if they were more clinical in front of goal.
