Matchday Four will witness AFC Leopards facing off against Police FC; both teams
carrying a history of unfortunate losses and draws in their preceding matches.
In anticipation of the fourth matchweek, Gor Mahia and Posta Rangers are asserting
their dominance, with the former as reigning champions and the latter swiftly
ascending to prominence, fiercely contending for the top spot. Meanwhile, AFC
Leopards and Kenya Police find themselves languishing at the bottom of the league,
alongside Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars, struggling to make headway.

Kakamega Homeboyz is set to confront KCB at the Bukhungu Stadium in a match that had
been postponed from the initially scheduled gameweek one.
As we await the commencement of Matchday Four on September 23, 2023, and with
the standings in place until September 27, 2023, let’s explore the potential results,
forecasts, and significant highlights of the upcoming matches.

Bidco United v Talanta FC
Kasarani Annex – 13:00 pm.

The match between Bidco United and Talanta FC is poised to kick off Matchday Four
as the season opener, with both teams displaying a consistent desire for victory.
Talanta FC currently holds an advantage after securing their first win in the previous
round, a triumph that disrupted Muranga Seal’s previously unbeaten streak at the top
of the league. Despite drawing matches against Shabana FC and AFC Leopards in
their recent outings, Talanta FC seems to have gained momentum.
Anthony Akhulia’s squad, on the other hand, has been stuck in a series of draws since
the inception of this year’s FKF Premier League, including their most recent 1-1 draw
against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium. Bidco United is determined to bounce back and
potentially secure their first victory of the season.

Shabana FC v K. Sharks
Raila Odinga Stadium – 15:00pm

In the upcoming fixture at Raila Odinga Stadium, Shabana FC is gearing up for their
fourth match of the season, desperately seeking their first win. Their journey thus far
has been challenging, with a loss to Muranga Seal and a hard-fought draw against
Talanta FC. In their latest clash against Kenya Police, they came tantalizingly close to
victory when Peter Ogechi netted in the 88th minute, only for the match to end in a
draw after a late Police goal in the 94th minute.
On the other hand, Kariobangi Sharks have already notched their first victory of the
season, with Geoffrey Onyango playing a pivotal role in their recent victory against
KCB. Onyango provided an assist for the opening goal and scored one himself in the
second half. While Shabana FC’s previous encounters resulted in draws, their recent
displays have instilled them with newfound confidence and determination to secure
wins.

Tusker FC v Muhoroni Youth
Ruaraka Grounds – 15: 00 pm.

As the brewers gear up for their upcoming match against Muhoroni, they carry a
burning desire to rebound from their recent defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz (2-1).
Assistant coach George Maina acknowledged the sluggish start that led to Tusker’s
mistakes and put them at a significant disadvantage. Despite Eric Zakayo’s impressive
performance in the 71st minute, Tusker ultimately succumbed to defeat. Maina, who
temporarily stepped in for Coach Matano, praised Homeboyz for their effective firsthalf
tactics, which enabled them to secure victory with goals in the 3rd and 18th
minutes.

Tusker’s recent track record includes a victory against Shabana FC, even with only 10
players on the field, as well as a draw against Sharks.

On the flip side, Muhoroni faced AFC Leopards in a match that saw their first three
penalty appeals dismissed by the referee for alleged handball in the area. In the 36th
minute, Collins Neto missed a golden opportunity to give his team the lead by failing
to connect with a right-wing cross with the goal within reach. Despite being awarded
several free kicks, the match concluded in a draw. Muhoroni has been locked in a
series of draws so far and is yet to secure their first win.
Tusker is seeking redemption and Muhoroni eager to break their streak of draws and
secure their first victory.

Kenya Police v AFC Leopards
Police Sacco Stadium 3pm

AFC is yet to secure their first victory, prompting questions about the suitability of the
current coach to lead the team to the next level. In response to these inquiries, Tom
Juma emphasized the importance of respecting diverse opinions, stating, “Everyone has
their opinions, and we must respect everyone’s views.”
Since 2010, AFC has clinched only two titles, specifically the 2013 and 2017 FKF cups,
contributing to ongoing concerns. Nevertheless, the coach calls for patience, urging for
additional time to demonstrate his competence. Their recent performances include a
defeat to KCB, a draw against Talanta FC despite holding a numerical advantage,
and a goalless draw with Muhoroni Youth, despite generating promising opportunities,
especially in the second half.
On the flip side, Kenya Police finds themselves in a similar predicament. They suffered
a loss to Posta Rangers, who netted three goals, and secured an early draw against
Kariobangi Sharks in their season opener. In their most recent match at Homabay
stadium against Shabana FC, Police FC managed a draw when Clinton Kinanga scored
in the 94th minute, highlighting the shared challenges both teams face in their pursuit of
victory.

Nairobi City Stars v Nzoia Sugar.
Ruaraka Grounds 3pm.

Scheduled for September 24, 2023, Nairobi City Stars is set to confront Nzoia Sugar
after enduring a disheartening 1-4 defeat at the hands of Gor Mahia. Coach Nicholas
Muyoti stressed the urgent need for improvement within the team, despite managing to
salvage a solitary goal through Dennis Oalo. The coach expressed his dissatisfaction
with the team’s failure to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities and cited
fundamental errors that led to conceding goals during the first half of the match. He
pinpointed issues with passing accuracy, game control, and communication as key
areas of concern.

City Stars currently boasts a roster of relatively inexperienced talents in this level of
competition, and Coach Muyoti acknowledged that it will take time to hone their skills.
On the opposing side, Nzoia Sugar has recorded two draws in their recent matches,
punctuated by an impressive victory in their season opener. Their most recent encounter
against Bidco United culminated in a draw, leaving the team eager to secure a win in
their forthcoming match.

Nairobi City Stars aims for a rebound and Nzoia Sugar seeks to capitalize on their
promising start to the season.

Muranga Seal v Posta Rangers
Sportpesa Arena 3pm.

Posta Rangers have claimed the coveted top spot, a position previously held by
Murang’a Seal. Their journey this far has been marked by exceptional performances,
commencing with a triumphant clash against Police FC that earned them three crucial
points. However, it was their remarkable showing against Sofapaka that propelled
them to the top of the league. Coach John Kamau’s squad remains unbeaten, a
testament to their exceptional form.

Coach Kamau expressed his gratitude for securing three vital points early in the
season, highlighting the motivational impact it has had on the team’s competitive spirit.
He underscored the collective effort of the team and the strategic impact of
substitutions as key elements in their recent successes.

Conversely, Muranga Seal has encountered an unfortunate setback, resulting in the
forfeiture of their top-ranking position, which they had steadfastly maintained for two
consecutive rounds. This shift in fortunes presents them with a compelling opportunity to
elevate their game and potentially reclaim their coveted position.
Posta Rangers have ascended to the top spot leaving Murang’a Seal no choice but to
regain their footing and challenge for supremacy once more.

Kakamega Homeboyz v Gor Mahia
Bukhungu Stadium 3pm

In the highly anticipated FKF Premier League showdown, Coach McKinstry’s Gor Mahia
is gearing up for an intense battle against their formidable rivals, Kakamega
Homeboyz. Under McKinstry’s leadership, the K’Ogalo camp is buzzing with excitement
and anticipation following their recent resounding 4-1 victory over Nairobi City Stars,
a performance that earned McKinstry the title of Coach of the Week.
However, McKinstry is well aware of the monumental challenge that awaits his team. In
a post-match interview, he acknowledged the fierce history of clashes between Gor
Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz, emphasizing the unpredictability and intensity of
their encounters.

Homeboyz, buoyed by their recent triumph over Tusker FC, are in good form and pose
a significant threat. They took an early lead in the first half, scoring two goals in the
3rd and 18th minutes.

As the match approaches, Gor Mahia occupies the second position in the league
standings with seven points, while Homeboyz sits in 11th place with three points from
two matches. The pitch difference between the two stadiums adds another layer of
complexity, but McKinstry is emphasizing the importance of adaptability. As fans on
both sides eagerly await the match, it promises to be a riveting contest filled with
suspense and excitement.

KCB v Bandari FC
Kasarani Stadium -3pm

Bandari FC is scheduled to go head-to-head with KCB at Kasarani Stadium this
Sunday, with kick-off set for 3 pm. Bandari has displayed a gradual improvement in
form after a challenging start to the season. They launched the second round with a
swift triumph over Sofapaka, propelled by Umaru Kasumba’s early goal, which acted
as a catalyst for their improved performance. In a prior encounter against Ulinzi Stars,
Bandari clinched a 1-0 victory on their home turf, with Hassan Abdalla netting the
decisive goal in the 36th minute. This victory has positioned Bandari favorably in the
league standings.

Conversely, KCB enjoyed a notable victory over AFC Leopards earlier in the league,
securing a 1-0 win. Nevertheless, the team faced a setback with a defeat to
Kariobangi Sharks, despite Francis Kahiro’s 45th-minute goal. As they approach the
forthcoming round, KCB is resolute in their determination to recapture their winning
form, while Bandari remains steadfast in their commitment to sustaining their
consistency and securing more victories.

Ulinzi v Sofapaka
Ulinzi Complex – 3pm

As both squads find themselves languishing at the league’s lower echelons, they are set
to clash this upcoming Sunday at the Ulinzi Complex in a match-up brimming with
anticipation. Ulinzi suffered a setback, concealing defeat at the hands of Bandari in
their last encounter, a result that saw them plummet to the league’s bottom.
Similarly, Sofapaka faces a comparable dilemma, having recently succumbed to a loss
against Posta Rangers in their previous outing.
Notably, both teams share a common adversary in Bandari FC, having tasted defeat
against them.

KCB v Kakamega Homeboyz
Bukhungu Stadium 3pm.

On September 27, 2023, Kakamega Homeboyz is scheduled to host KCB at their
home ground in a postponed match that is still pending. Following a defeat to Libya’s
Al Hilal and a challenging exit from the CAF Confederations qualifier, Kakamega
Homeboyz had to reschedule their match against KCB. These two teams will square off
for an opportunity to accumulate additional points and potentially secure victories.
