In a weekend of electrifying FKF Premier League action, two teams took center stage.
Gor Mahia and Posta Rangers emerged as the unrivaled stars of Round 3, leaving
spectators in awe and securing their positions at the top of the league table.
Concurrently, Police FC suffered an astonishing backslide and presently trail the
league alongside Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka.
Gor Mahia’s Omalla: A Golden Boot Dynamo
Gor Mahia, led by the unstoppable Benson Omalla, dominated Nairobi City Stars with
a resounding 4-1 victory. Omalla’s exceptional performance earned him the man of
the match spot, scoring two goals, including a header, while Rooney Onyango and
Austin Odhiambo added to the tally. Despite Dennis Oalo’s goal in the 64th minute for
City Stars, Austin Odhiambo quickly restored Gor’s three-goal advantage.
Posta Rangers’ Magical Duo: Macharia and Thiong’o Shine.
Meanwhile, Posta Rangers dazzled the crowd with their sensational 3-1 triumph over
Sofapaka at Kasarani Annex. The ranger’s second-half resurgence was nothing short
of magical, breaking the deadlock with a goal courtesy of the talented Macharia
Jackson. Their victory was sealed in style with a sensational brace by the maestro,
Peter Thiong’o, in the 70th and 73rd minutes. The outstanding performances of Jackson
Macharia and Peter Thiong’o earned Posta Rangers a top spot in the FKF PL standings.
On the flip side, Sofapaka mounted a comeback, finding the net in the 77th minute as
substitute Oliver Maloba capitalized on a loose ball in the penalty area. They
proceeded to put immense pressure on Posta Ranger’s goalkeeper, Njau John, forcing
him to make three outstanding saves before the match concluded.
Kakamega Homeboyz First Win.
Kakamega Homeboyz on the other hand, notched their first win of the season in a
thrilling encounter against Tusker on Saturday, September 16, 2023. An early strike
by Ambrose Sifuna in the 3rd minute set the tone, and Moses Shummah’s header in the
27th minute extended their lead. Tusker mounted a comeback, with Zakayo Eric
finding the net in the 70th minute.
Shabana FC and Kenya Police Draw.
At Homabay Stadium, Kenya Police denied Shabana FC their first win of the season,
courtesy of a dramatic 94th minute equalizer by Clinton Kinanga. Peter Ogechi had
put Shabana in the lead in the 88th minute, only to see their hopes dashed in the dying
moments of the game.
Kariobangi Sharks First Win.
The Sharkmen displayed an enthralling performance in their encounter with KCB on
September 17, 2023. The first half of the match concluded with a 1-1 draw, thanks to
Onyango’s assist to Stanley, who successfully found the back of the net. However,
Francis Kahiro capitalized on a moment of defensive confusion within the Shark’s ranks
to score in the 45th minute.
The second half was kick-started by an early 68th-minute goal scored by Geoffrey
Onyango, securing an advantage for the Sharks.
Sharks now holds the 5th position in the FKF PL standings.
Bandari FC Win Against Ulinzi Stars.
The Dockers discovered themselves in a highly favorable position following a 1-0
victory over Ulinzi Stars on their home turf. Hassan Abdalla spearheaded the team’s
effort with a goal in the 36th minute. Despite a tenacious performance by Ulinzi, they
couldn’t manage to score.
Talanta FC Ends Muranga Seal’s Unbeaten Streak.
In a game of intense determination, Talanta FC managed to put an end to Murang’a
Seal’s previously undefeated run. The decisive moment arrived in the 90th minute at
Ruaraka Grounds when Alex Juma’s goal secured a 1-0 victory, a testament to
Talanta FC’s unwavering spirit on the field.
AFC Leopards Continued Defeat.
The third round of the FKF Premier League didn’t go as planned for the Ingwe team, as
they were unable to find the back of the net against Muhoroni Youth. The match
concluded in a 0-0 draw, marking a disappointing turn of events for the Tom Juma-led
side as they found themselves positioned in the bottom five of the league.
The millers, Nzoia Sugar, also ended up in a 1-1 draw against Bidco United on their
home ground, placing them in the 6th position on the FKF Premier League table
Rearranged Standings: Posta Rangers Lead the Way
In a dramatic shift of fortune, Posta Rangers have surged to the summit of the FKF
Premier League standings, their exceptional form making them early pacesetters. Right
on their heels, Gor Mahia claims the second spot, reaffirming their football dominance.
The previously high-flying Muranga Seal has been dethroned from the top positions
and now finds itself in the fourth place after a humbling performance. Bandari FC has
etched their name into the narrative, securing the third position with a triumphant win
against Ulinzi Stars.
Kenya Police’s Uphill Battle
However, the road ahead is fraught with challenges for Kenya Police, who languish in
the 16th position. Their journey to redemption seems steep, with a lot of ground to
cover as they grapple with early-season struggles.
