The 2020/21 BetKing Premier League (BPL) season could see the emergence of a new local derby in the topflight.
Premier League sides Wazito FC and Sofapaka FC could soon contest the first Narok derby if all goes to plan ahead of the new campaign.
Batoto Ba Mungu have adopted the Narok Stadium as their home ground for the last couple of seasons and they could be joined by Wazito who are planning to do the same by having the 30,000 seater facility host their home topflight fixtures.
A post shared by Wazito on their social media platforms reveals that the club has been working behind the scenes to make this a reality with club CEO Dennis Gicheru on Tuesday 27 October meeting with Narok County’s Director of Sports.
Since joining the topflight, Wazito have often used the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos as their home ground.
As we await to see what comes out of this, there have also been reports that Tusker FC have been mulling over the possibility of moving the team’s home matches from their base in Ruaraka to Meru, with the Nairobi ground often coming under scrutiny for its poor playing surface.
